Particuliere studentenhuizen in reguliere woningen of flats moeten snel hun vergunning op orde krijgen. Anders lopen de bewoners het risico dat ze hun huis uit moeten. Dat blijkt uit het nieuwe Wageningse kamerbeleid. Volgens de nieuwe regels voor kamerverhuur mag per straat nog maar 5 procent (1 op de 20) van de woningen een studentenhuis zijn. De lokale politieke partij voor onder meer studenten Connect is tegen de strenge 5-procentregel. 'Alsof studenten elke week barbecueën en drie keer in de week om drie uur 's nachts thuiskomen.' Alle andere partijen in raad vinden dat met het oog op de leefbaarheid 1 op 20 huizen een mooie balans oplevert http://bit.ly/2JjY0PP

As a municipality, we must draw up an environmental plan. A long-term plan for the entire physical environment. We would like to involve residents in this process. A proposal is to do that via co-creation. But what exactly is co-creation? Is this the right strategy? And in which phases is it most important to involve residents? Wageningen is a city bursting with science and knowledge. The role of knowledge and science in decision-making is a topic widely debated on – and an important one. This week we were interviewed by students of the course Landscape Economics and Politics about our visions on the growth and opportunities of Wageningen. Besides us, numerous stakeholders were approached. The students will now analyse their data and write advise for the municipality. We find it important to be available for such requests for others to learn while contributing to real-life questions. Often these projects result in new insights which can be taken into account in decision-making. We’re looking forward to the valuable results! #science #politics #wageningen

The past years it was known as the ugliest place of Wageningen, but there may soon be changes. Idealis has plans to realise student housing on this vacant piece of land. Yesterday, Mark Reijerman represented Connect Wageningen during the political evening on this subject. In two weeks, the city council will vote on the plans. #housing #wageningen #politics #students

What are your ideas for the Aula? Wageningen UR is looking for a new purpose for the Aula located at the Generaal Foulkesweg. Previously, the Aula has been used for graduations and Phd defences. The new plans needs to give justice to the cultural-historical value of the building and should be an added value for the city center of Wageningen. A solar farm at the Haarweg! The city council will decide on the 10th of December whether the plans are accepted and get a green light. An interesting political issue regarding the climate goals, the nature surrounding Wageningen and the impact on the environment of the neighbors. Do you live or do you have friends that live at Haarweg 333 - Earth House? Let them know ASAP that they have been invited by e-mail for an information evening tomorrow, 4th of December, at Plus Ultra from 16:30-18:00. Tomorrow is the last opportunity to inform yourself on the plans directly outside of your window, before the city council casts their votes.

Recycling is a core factor for creating a circular economy that start at home. Last week we had a meeting with the civil servant about waste management in Wageningen. Wageningen provides orange bags for collecting PMD (plastic, metal, drink cartons), which you can get for free at the municipality reception. Did you know that proper recycling of our waste has a direct impact on our 'afvalstoffenheffing'? We pay to burn the normal waste, but get a premium on all plastic. Therefore, the less normal waste we produce, the less taxes we will have to pay! #recycle #waste #circulareconomy #wageningen

We shared our vision for the 2018 – 2022 budget and raised awareness for, among other things, integration, the housing crisis, and the economic growth of Wageningen.
