WAGENINGEN - Marisabel Pardo groeide op in Bolivia en kwam in het jaar 2002 naar Nederland. Sinds mei vorig jaar zit ze namens Groen Links in de gemeenteraad van Wageningen. ,,Mijn dochter vind dat ik de koningin lijk die iedereen begroet.’’

As a municipality, we must draw up an environmental plan. A long-term plan for the entire physical environment. We would like to involve residents in this process. A proposal is to do that via co-creation. But what exactly is co-creation? Is this the right strategy? And in which phases is it most important to involve residents? Wageningen is a city bursting with science and knowledge. The role of knowledge and science in decision-making is a topic widely debated on – and an important one. This week we were interviewed by students of the course Landscape Economics and Politics about our visions on the growth and opportunities of Wageningen. Besides us, numerous stakeholders were approached. The students will now analyse their data and write advise for the municipality. We find it important to be available for such requests for others to learn while contributing to real-life questions. Often these projects result in new insights which can be taken into account in decision-making. We’re looking forward to the valuable results! #science #politics #wageningen

The past years it was known as the ugliest place of Wageningen, but there may soon be changes. Idealis has plans to realise student housing on this vacant piece of land. Yesterday, Mark Reijerman represented Connect Wageningen during the political evening on this subject. In two weeks, the city council will vote on the plans. #housing #wageningen #politics #students

Monday, January 14th is the first political evening of the year! On the agenda are Kirpestein (new student housing on the Churchillweg), the developments of the Aula, and the ‘council wishes’. What are your ideas for the Aula? Wageningen UR is looking for a new purpose for the Aula located at the Generaal Foulkesweg. Previously, the Aula has been used for graduations and Phd defences. The new plans needs to give justice to the cultural-historical value of the building and should be an added value for the city center of Wageningen. Great news! 3 weeks ago we posted about the orange PMD bags. Apartment residents can now get free PMD bags at several locations. This makes it easier to separate plastic packaging, cans and drink cartons. You can now also pick them up on campus at The Sustainability Office, Forum room 239 Tue/Wed/Thu 12:30 - 13:45!
