Niels Bonenkamp is door de leden van de VVD in Landsmeer unaniem gekozen als lijsttrekker bij de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen van 21 maart 2018. Dit gebeurde tijdens de Algemene Ledenvergadering op 30 oktober j.l..

Het kandidaatstellend bestuur had Bonenkamp al voor de zomer voorgedragen als lijsttrekker.
‘Ik ben erg blij met het vertrouwen dat de leden in mij stellen en beschouw de benoeming tot lijsttrekker als een bevestiging dat we als fractie op de goede weg zijn. Landsmeer staat er als gemeente na vier jaar liberaal bestuur stukken beter voor dan in 2014. Heel veel zaken zijn opgepakt, mede door de initiatiefrijke rol die de VVD heeft gespeeld in de gemeenteraad. Ik hoop dat de kiezers in Landsmeer dat ook zien en dat zij de VVD daarvoor in maart bij de gemeenteraadverkiezingen belonen.'
Niels Bonenkamp voert een lijst aan van veertien mensen die zich voor de VVD kandidaat stellen. De definitieve volgorde op deze kandidatenlijst wordt vastgesteld op 27 november.
