In de serie van dorps- en wijk-Ontmoetingen in Apeldoorn heeft de gemeenteraad donderdag 7 december 2023 een bezoek gebracht aan Wenum-Wiesel. Het recente 100-jarig bestaan van de buurtvereniging WWNNA was een mooie aanleiding.

De Ontmoeting vond plaats in de historische omgeving van de oude watermolen, waar een substantieel aantal inwoners aanwezig was.

Een centraal onderwerp was de verkoop van de watermolen, een besluit dat reeds in 2012 werd genomen en dat in 2024 plaats zal vinden. Ondanks meerdere inspanningen om het behoud ervan te waarborgen, zijn deze in de afgelopen jaren helaas gestrand.

Verder stond de bijeenkomst in het teken van verkeersveiligheid, waarbij de problematiek van snelrijden binnen de kern en sluiproutes ter sprake kwam. Opmerkelijk was het zelfkritische bewustzijn van dorpsbewoners over deze kwestie.

Positieve ontwikkelingen werden eveneens belicht, met name binnen diverse verenigingen, de dorpsraad en belangenverenigingen. Een nieuwe dynamiek stimuleert constructief overleg over toekomstige ontwikkelingen. De presentatie over natuur en het concept van een dorpslandschap bleek inspirerend en wordt overwogen voor opname in toekomstige planvorming.

Al met al was de bijeenkomst een constructieve uitwisseling met een zeer betrokken dorp, waarin zowel zorgen als positieve ontwikkelingen werden besproken.
