Prominent members of the LI leadership have slammed the Cambodian authorities amid the arrest Cambodia National Rescue Party president, Kem Sokha -- leader of #Cambodia's political Opposition. LI vice-president and former OSCE – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe High Commissioner, Astrid Thors said: "LI demands immediate and resolute action from the international community with regards to the aggravating conditions in Cambodia. "The countries signatories of the Paris Accords have a particular responsibility to engage in reversing the dangerous sliding of Cambodia towards outright authoritarianism. The European Union - EU must initiate steps for immediate suspension of the budget support for the regime given that the mutually agreed rules have been breached by the authorities in Phnom Penh.” LI president of honour, Hans van Baalen damned the arrest of the #CNRP leader “unacceptable” and charges brought against him as “absurd”. The Cambodian government's action under Samdech Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister "contribute to further deterioration of the political climate for opposition forces in Cambodia in the run up to the 2018 elections", wrote Mr Van Baalen, who is also president of the ALDE Party – Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Watch: It's one month since we celebrated our historic 70th-anniversary congress in #Andorra - which saw the participation of almost 200 delegates from 56 countries - so we wanted to remind you of some of the highlights...
