De VVD Emmen is geen voorstander van verplaatsing van de Raadzaal naar het Trouwpaviljoen. Fractievoorzitter Johan Scheltens: “De opstelling in de huidige Raadzaal is verre van ideaal. Die draagt niet bij aan een goed debat in de Gemeenteraad. Wat de VVD betreft is de bouw van een nieuwe Raadzaal een veel beter optie. Maar dan moeten we het wel eens worden over de plek.”
Het CDA dacht aan een plek tussen het Gemeentehuis en het Theater. Maar voor de VVD heeft een plek aan de andere zijde van het Gemeentehuis de voorkeur: “Dat is dichterbij de vergaderverdieping waar de meeste fracties ook hun fractievergaderingen hebben. Mocht nieuwbouw te duur worden, dan is het Bruggebouw altijd nog een betere locatie dan het Trouwpaviljoen.”
