Wat een mooie fototentoonstelling over ‘Grenzeloze Liefdes’ ❤️ in Culemborg. Ons fractielid Karin Wijkmans nam een kijkje. De tentoonstelling gaat over het gelijknamige boek. Hierin vertellen gemengde stellen openhartig over de verrijkende kanten van culturele (vaak ook religieuze) verschillen binnen hun relatie. Ook vertellen zij over de hobbels: de woorden ‘gunnen’ en ‘accepteren’ worden daarbij vaak gebruikt. Karin vraagt zich af wat we als samenleving kunnen leren van deze relaties? 🤔 En van de prachtige quotes die zij bij de tentoonstelling heeft gezien. ‘Grenzeloze Liefdes’ is een initiatief van Sahin Yildirim, Yvette Kopijn, Laura Schalkwijk & Daniela Tasca. Bin völlig überwältigt vom Zuspruch für unsere Vorstellung von einem nachhaltigeren, gerechteren und transparenterem Europa. Das Ergebnis in meiner Heimatstadt Aachen ist einfach nur der Knaller! Unglaublich. Laat de vrijheid niet sterven Indrukwekkende 4 mei herdenking in Doetinchem In een volle Catharinakerk spraken verschillende mensen, waaronder de heer W. Scheerder, ooggetuige van bombardementen op Doetinchem in maart 1945. Tijdens de bombardementen werd zijn moeder gedood. Over de joodse buren die werden afgevoerd door de nazi's. Hij eindigde zijn voordracht met de woorden 'Laat de vrijheid niet sterven'. De stille tocht eindigde zoals elk jaar bij het Mark Tennantplantsoen, waar burgemeester M. Boumans sprak over vrijheid dat alleen gewaarborgd kan worden door onze democratische rechtstaat. De rechtstaat die tussen '40 en '45 buiten werking is gesteld. Dat deze vrijheid ook nu niet vanzelfsprekend is. Dat we dit jaar in Nederland 100 jaar algemeen kiesrecht hebben en hoe belangrijk het is dat we van dit recht gebruik maken. Het huidige Europa, ontstaan na de verschrikkingen van de tweede wereldoorlog. Deze maand kunnen we stemmen voor de Europese verkiezingen. Ook trok onze burgemeester een parallel tussen het verleden en het heden. Hij vertelde over de 16-jarige Gerard die tijdens de bombardementen op Doetinchem in maart '45 moest vluchten met zijn familie en de 16-jarige Syrische jongen Yassine die om dezelfde reden met zijn familie moest vluchten en nu in een asielzoekerscentrum in Amsterdam verblijft. Zowel vrijheid als vrede zijn nooit vanzelfsprekend en we zullen hier blijvend in moeten investeren.

Unsere Sprecherin @martha_berger kam auch zu Wort und hat v. a. über die Notwendigkeit einer bezahlbaren Nachhaltigkeit geredet. Aus den Niederlanden haben wir ebenfalls einige von @groenlinks begrüßen dürfen. Mit einem neuen und starken Europa 🇪🇺 wollen wir die dreckigen Kohlekraftwerken europaweit abschalten, das Sterben auf dem Mittelmeer und die Jugendarbeitslosigkeit beenden! 4 Wochen Wahlkampf! Bericht van Jeff Halper / ICAHD I am the head of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD), and after more than 20 years fighting Israel's policy of demolishing Palestinian homes, I am witnessing one of the largest campaigns of demolitions since we started our work. In East Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley, throughout the West Bank (where not only homes are demolished: my friend Ata Jabar's entire farm was destroyed by the Israeli authorities recently) -- and not only in the Occupied Territory: WITHIN the Green Line Israel is systematically demolishing entire Bedouin communities to clear the land for Jewish settlements, and in the Galilee and the Triangle in the north homes of Palestinian citizens of Israel are being attacked. The scale of demolition makes protest and resistance impossible. ICAHD has led the resistance. We have stood in front of bulldozers coming to demolish Palestinian homes, and, with the families, their neighbors and hundreds of Israeli and international activists, we have rebuilt almost 200 homes demolished by Israel. We have published reports on demolitions, participated in UN meetings on the issue, made films and toured throughout the world with families, enabling them to tell their stories. But all our work is dwarfed by the resurgence of demolitions taking place today, and I have to admit to a feeling of helplessness. By our count and that of the UN, Israel has demolished some 55,000 Palestinian homes in the Occupied Territory since 1967. Add to that the 60,000 homes destroyed in the Nakba in 1948 and in its wake, plus thousands more inside Israel until today, and the picture that emerges is ethnic cleansing. I don't know how to react anymore. Because demolitions have gone on for so long and are so many, it is no longer an issue. We cannot get activists out to resist (who can keep up with the pace and scale?), and after all these years we cannot get the media to cover demolitions either - it is already not "news." Demolitions is not an issue highlighted by Palestinian support groups abroad (the US Campaign, PSC and the others), nor is it covered much by the radical media, Democracy Now, the Real News and other outlets. ICAHD has ot been able to keep up either. Our activists have drifted away to other, more immediate things that pop up: Khan al-Ahmer, Gaza, other important but reactive events. We no longer have funding since donors do not invest in political organizations when there is nothing happening politically (another success Israel has had in shutting down all meaningful political support for the Palestinian cause). And our message is growing thin: indeed, how many times can you come back to an audience or write an article abut the same thing? Our response, as I've written many times, is to pull back from activism on the ground. ICAHD still rebuilds, we still visit families, we still resist whenever we can and we still speak out, but we have come to the conclusion that protest is pointless unless it is attached to a political program. We don't want to abandon these families and the thousands more who homes will be demolished by Israel, but we have come to understand one fundamental fact: unless we join with others to formulate and effectively campaign for a political program to end Israeli rule and oppression (and I don't mean some vague "rights-based approach" but a real political program -- the establishment of a single democratic state between the River and the Sea), then our activism, outrage and protest is meaningless. Not pursuing a political program -- THAT is truly abandoning these families to their fate. In the meantime we at ICAHD continue as best we can to call attention to, and resist, this tragic, cruel Israeli POLICY (backed by the courts) of home demolitions. Any help you can offer, getting us access to media, for example, is welcomed. In the meantime, ICAHD has joined with the One Democratic Campaign (ODSC) in its campaign for a one state solution to this colonial travesty.

Met commentaar van Jeff Halper (ICAHD) When it comes to commentary over what is happening in Israel, no one tops Gideon Levi. Beginning Wednesday, the day after the elections, Israel will move from being an apartheid state de facto to an apartheid state in law, governance and brutal political reality. Netanyahu, who will be re-elected, announced last night that he will annex Area C of the West Bank (the 62% of the territory where the settlements are -- close to 800,000 Israeli settlers live in the Occupied Palestinian Territory) after the elections, in tandem with Trump's plan. Everyone knows the two-state solution is gone (and has been for 20 years). Governments, the Jewish Establishment (including J Street), certainly Christian Evangelicals -- all those who keep denying this only enable apartheid, since they keep the cruel fiction that Israel is "the only democracy in the Middle East" and thus enable it to institute an apartheid system at absolutely no cost. It is us -- the Palestinians, critical Israelis and people like you who care about justice and human life -- against those who hold power, politically, in the media, financially and militarily. Long odds, but we have won before, many times before, fro the fight against slavery to the anti-colonial movement to Algeria, Vietnam, apartheid South Africa and the fight for human rights. All these and much more are ongoing struggles, of course, but we have succeeded in pushing back the forces of darkness. I say it again: we need to focus on a political end-game for Palestine/Israel. And it is crystal-clear: we must transform the single apartheid state Israel has created before our eyes between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River into a democratic state of all its citizens. A democracy based on equal rights or apartheid. That is the stark choice confronting us.

Martin Kortekaas heeft gehoor gegeven aan de oproep van de We Are Here groep die sinds dinsdag in Amstelveen, naast Uilenstede campus, een pand betrokken heeft. Samen met een aantal GroenLinksers heeft een gesprek plaatsgevonden om te horen wie deze mensen zijn en wat hun doel is. Het betreft een groep van rond de 25 personen, zij zoeken onderdak tot juli. Daarna is er mogelijk 24 uurs opvang in Amsterdam beschikbaar. Tot die tijd willen zij graag in verbinding staan met de buurt. Bij het gesprek waren ook 2 studenten wonend op Uilenstede waarvan een actief lid is van de bewonersvereniging. Fijn te horen dat er op Uilenstede positief gereageerd wordt op de groep en hulpmiddelen al aangevoerd worden. GroenLinks ziet graag dat Amstelveen het Amsterdamse standpunt aanneemt en niet overgaat tot ontruiming ten behoeve van leegstand. De groep We Are Here vraagt, ga de uitdaging aan en laat dit een mooi positief experiment zijn. Laat ons in verbinding komen met de buurt en activiteiten organiseren.

Ook met een angststoornis moet je mee kunnen doen! Best lastig als je heel erg bang bent voor sollicitaties of überhaupt je huis niet uit durft. De zogenaamde Individuele Plaatsing en Steun-trajecten helpen mensen met ernstige psychische problematiek en een grote afstand tot de arbeidsmarkt begeleid naar regulier werk. Daarom vraagt GroenLinks aankomende donderdag tijdens de Gemeenteraad aan het College van B&W aandacht voor en uitbreiding van deze belangrijke trajecten!

Vorige week donderdag werden de nieuwe statenleden namens GroenLinks Zuid-Holland ingezworen. De komende vier jaar gaan deze vijf mensen er alles aan doen om de provincie verder te verduurzamen en vergroenen. Zuid-Holland is één van de drukbevolkste provincies en bewoners hebben daarom erg veel belang bij veel aandacht voor zaken als luchtkwaliteit en natuur van goede kwaliteit. De volgende verkiezingen komen er ook snel aan; het Europees Parlement. De komende periode besteden we ook in Zoetermeer weer veel aandacht aan die belangrijke verkiezingen. Daarnaast blijven onze eigen raads - en commissieleden druk met onze eigen stad. 🌎💚🌳
